Is the baggage of the residue of the old man, the old man has
been crucified on the cross, from living here, is that baggage
and residue Satan’s stronghold to keep you miserable or
God’s stronghold to keep you near? Wouldn’t that bring
peace?
Paul would have loved to have the baggage removed. The Lord had
given Paul a new life. If the Lord had gotten rid of the baggage,
then Paul would probably have thought that we could serve the
Lord perfectly.”
If the Lord takes away our baggage, then we would probably close
the door to the Lord’s life. Then, the Lord cannot be expressed
through us. We would not get miserable so that we would turn back
to the Lord; we would become independent on our own abilities
instead of dependent on the Lord. We would have been operating
in our own strength instead of the Lord’s strength. So,
some baggage is left there so when we close the door (independent
from the Lord relying on your abilities and flesh habits), each
day walking away from the Lord is like each day walking in more
mud until we cannot take it any more so we will turn around and
come back to the Lord. Then, the Lord will open the door and the
Lord flows through me and none of it (the baggage) bothers you.
Then I can boast in my weakness. Because in my weakness I drawn
near to him every day.
What is your baggage? Is it insecurity, worthlessness, rejection
and sickness? Do you let those hold you back or do you use these
to step out and let God to move through you?
Are you still trusting in the dead old man that was crucified
on the cross and is it giving you trouble? Is that why you are
having an anxiety in your life? You have been crucified in Christ
and given a new nature. You cannot crucify yourself. The Lord
did that and now He says to take up the cross and deny yourself.
Your flesh will never improve. When my focus is on His strongholds
in my life, then, it gives me a moment by moment life.
Yes, the Lord can remove strongholds in our lives but leaves
some to keep us dependent on Him. So that we can do ALL things
through Him and He is exalted.
I Corinthians 12:5-10 “Of such a one I will boast; yet of
myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities. 6 For though
I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak
the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above
what he sees me to be or hears from me. 7 And lest I should be
exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn
in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me,
lest I be exalted above measure. 8 Concerning this thing I pleaded
with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He
said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength
is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will
rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches,
in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For
when I am weak, then I am strong.”
We try to do is feed our soul on the things outside of him. Instead
of the wisdom of God, my mind gets knowledge, instead of his will
I get my will. Instead of peace of God I end up with roller coaster
emotions.
Why was Jesus in the Wilderness. By going into the wilderness,
the soul gets cut off from everything familiar from every outside
source. There is no possibility of getting food out there. So
for 40 days and 40 nights the soul feeds on the spirit of God.
His mind was so full of the wisdom of God … After 40 days
after feed and feeding in the wilderness, Satan comes to tempt
him.
God has driven everyone into the wilderness so that we can have
an opportunity to get stuffed.
The unholy trinity called sin and Satan and the world. There’s
natural desire that lives in my body, there is sickness that lives
in me. I got a mind, will emotions full of things I wish were
not full of. We have circumstances we cannot control.
We decide which way to go. Way deep in the mountains and found
a 4 foot drift. You have a couple of options, you back up. You
back up to get back here or you back up a little bit and floor
it to bust through. Do you know we have emotions to bust through
because we have become comfortable in our misery. We decided this
is how we live. We have given up and quit and we are negative
because it is the easiest way to live. If we want to go this way,
we have to back up and bust through it and say this is the way
I am headed. How do we do it? The next time someone offends you,
give them a hug and sense the freedom and release. And let god
reveal that freedom in you.
Two bags we bring in?
What is the self life? The source of yourself. You have a unique
self you cannot kill. It is the way that God made you to be. Then
you have a self, the old man the self life the flesh life the
Adam life that we need to do something with. We can crucify the
old man, deny the old man love the unique self.
Model II Corinthians 4:16. You have an outer life formed in
the womb of your mother, the inner life formed by the world. People
say they know you but do they really know you.
How is that inner life formed in you? I get messages from other
people about who I am. Overt – I don’t like you, covert
– I’ll just pack up and go. We get a message, and
the message passes through my personality filter and it can make
me feel something unique or give me a unique image. You have a
boy a feeler. He has a dad that criticize him and gives him an
image he is worthless and kills himself to deal with it. You got
a boy who is a door, and his father criticize him and makes him
feel worthless. His response. He will make a million dollars and
show you that I’m not.
We are controlled at our point of image. We get messages, pass
through our filter, we develop an image, and we spend our whole
life either maintaining or trying to change.
Why are we listening to people. Why are we I Thes. 5:23. The
spirit and the soul and the body. Outer god made me by dust, spirit
breathed in my spirit, I became a living soul with mind will emotions.
Why did god create me. I John 4:8 god is love. He created me because
love has to have an object and you are the object of God’s
love.
To make sure the day you were born to come to him he put in your
spirit spiritual needs that only god could meet and no one else
can meet. You will see god meeting those needs in men and men
going to god meeting those needs. WE need god to love us and we
need his acceptance. We need his assurance, security, commitment,
his significance that comes from him.
Adam and eve told not to eat the tree or that they will die.
Their death took place in their spirit. It is impossible for god
to meet their needs. Yet those are our basic needs. So where do
we go to get those needs met. We go to look to other to meet our
godly needs. And to degree they will attempt to meet those needs,
we have a possible image, when others do not meet those needs,
we have a negative image.
A self centered person is a person trying to get those needs
met. That is every person. So there trying to get their needs
met out of you and you are trying to get your needs met. You didn’t
get the positive message.
You are born cut off from god. What is your condition in birth,
insanity. I’m born insane. Sanity is mind will emotions
in touch with reality. Insanity is your mind will emotions out
of touch with reality. Very few Christians judge their thought.
When you have a thought, is it Satan’s though, God’s
thought, your conscience your mind. Where does it come from. He
will always speak to you in a first person, singular voice. He
always come behind you saying you are worthless, he says I am
worthless. You think I must be worthless. WE need to be able to
discern the voices we hear. The Shepherd’s voice is life,
light, liberating and freeing. The butcher’s voice is harsh,
critical, condemning and judgmental. What voice are you listening
too.
The third thing is I really don’t know who am I. I was
born for god. In my self centered insane condition I go to other
self centered insane people and ask will you tell me who I am?
I get messages they pass through my personality filter, we get
messages, and Satan’s job is to kill steal and destroy to
take those message and develop a negative identity. For example,
a girl never met dad. What would Satan whisper to make her feel.
I would make her feel worthless, unwanted and unlovable. Something
must be wrong with me. I’m looking to them to meet my needs
that only god meets to self centered people insane people behavior
gives me a message. Mom remarry and the dad is an al colic and
the dad explodes. That is going to cause feelings of insecurity.
Everything the girl does the mother critises and questions because
she is a perfectionist or thinker. So now she has feelings of
feeling stupid. What we will try to do is change it through performance.
When all their work to change doesn’t work, starts to get
frustrated. About the man that loves her and she cannot believe
it and he wants to sleep with her cause he wants to marry her
and she doesn’t want to but does. Next day goes to school
and all the kids are not talking to her nor is her date not talking
to her. How do you think it makes her feel. We try to change it
and we cannot change it we fall to our idols. Idols is anything
I trust other than Christ under stress and pressure. John 2:8
– grace. Whatever I run to under pressure other than Christ
is my idol what should of could of. They will withdraw, etc. Every
event turns the dial and begin to blow up over little things.
It is one thing that messages that others give me but what do
I do when my own behavior starts to prove that I’m worthless,
unacceptable, unlovable and unwanted. My own behavior proves myself
worthless that makes me work harder I cannot change and go into
a tiny little dot until the depression hits. All depression is
internal temper tantrum. Think of this as a top that spinning
in as a storm, and what you want are events that would make the
top lay on it side to give us peace. So we look for things at
work, in the people around us or our kids to disprove that I’m
worthless, unlovable, no good unacceptable. When an event does
take place to give peace the enemy has away of stirring this and
spinning it. All he has to do is bring a life message today similar
to a message in the past. All she has to do is have her husband
today hint that he is leaving or that he is going out of town
that old feeling of abandonment is a life message that will push
all this to thrown into those old feelings or storms. The problem
we have is we try to adjust it outward events so that the top
does not spin. So, I want to everyone around me to walk on egg
shells so that top wont spin.
How do I fix that?
What is my flesh? Is my mind, will emotion under the ruling
influence of something other than Christ. We will try to fix our
flesh in the power of the flesh and the tools of the flesh and
scripture memory won’t fix it nor counseling will fix your
flesh. Because the flesh is flesh and is hostile to God.
Because the best of your flesh is the worst of it. The tree
of knowledge of good and evil. Here god standard if I’m
in Christ I’m accepted if I’m out of Christ I’m
rejected. Here is the tree of knowledge of good and evil. I do
evil and eat side of the tree and go below god’s standard,
what will he do to me. He will reject me because I’m unrighteous.
This is the deception. If I do good and go above god’s standard,
he doesn’t accept me and rejects me because I’m self
righteous. The flesh can be strengthen by good and evil. That’s
why the worst immorality is in the most legalistic churches and
groups. The level of self righteousness you can attained your Christ
plus person. The battle is not against evil but your glory over
God’s glory. In the degree of self righteousness and glory
to that same level of unrighteousness one day you will fall. The
scribes and pharases made to a +100 and how far did they fall,
to a minus 100 because they killed the son of god. You will not
get this fixed in the power of the flesh.
Your flesh life what happened to you as you were born cut off
from god and going to others to meet that. How do you fix that.
God created adam and adam was a male and female in the same body.
God created man and god looked at that and no one for him to fellowship
with. He took the female out of him. God will come in and fill
up what is lacking in you.
